5. Third Anglo-afghan War 1919

From its base in India, Britain tried to keep the Bolshevik influence in Afghanistan at bay. When the Afghan ruler declared independence in 1919, conflict followed. Afghan forces were weak, but British forces were drained following WWI and the end result was Afghanistan as an independent country.
