The Portrait Hall

The Portrait Hall gets its name from the collection of paintings, some larger than life-size, of Russian rulers hanging there. These include Catherine the Great who gave the palace to her grandson, the future Alexander I, as a wedding present. Nicholas II and his family often had their official photographs taken here.
