The Im­pe­rial Fabergé Eggs were known for con­tain­ing spe­cial sur­prises in­side, such as jew­ellery, minia­ture por­traits and me­chan­i­cal ob­jects, some of which went miss­ing dur­ing the Rev­o­lu­tion. How­ever this egg is unique be­cause no sur­prise was cre­ated for it, de­spite Ni­cholas’s in­struc­tions for one.
