Peynaud revolutionised winemaking in the 20th century, producing better, more flavourful wines by showing winemakers the importance of detail in both the vineyards and cellars. His work particularly benefited his native region, Bordeaux, where he worked as Professor of Oenology at the University of Bordeaux.
