Peynaud revolution­ised winemaking in the 20th century, producing better, more flavourful wines by showing winemakers the importance of detail in both the vineyards and cellars. His work particular­ly benefited his native region, Bordeaux, where he worked as Professor of Oenology at the University of Bordeaux.
