THE ENGLISH
KING EDWARD III
The Battles of Crécy and Poitiers would prove to be a high point in the reign of Edward III. Although the Treaty of Brétigny was highly favourable to the English, the later years of Edward III would be far less successful abroad and England became more unruly.
EDWARD, THE BLACK PRINCE
While the origin of the appellation ‘The Black Prince’ remains unknown, many point to this battle as the moment at which he may have earned it. Edward’s brutal tactics against the French may have lead to his enemies referring to him as a ‘black boar’.
