THE WEAPON OF CHOICE
The English longbow was a complex device that had taken centuries to evolve. Usually staves were made of yew, dried for several years and then shaped into a ‘D’ shape over several more. The stave was made of a length of wood six feet or more, consisting of both heartwood (for strength) and softer sapwood to allow bending.
