Tet Offensive begins
30 January 1968, Vietnam
A turning point in the Vietnam War, the Tet Offensive was a coordinated series of attacks by the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese.
The offensive shook American confidence as they scrambled to launch an effective counterattack, and President Johnson was faced with calls to scale back US involvement. While the war would continue for some years, the Tet Offensive was one of the first signs that an American victory was unlikely.
