THE MAYA CALENDAR

400 BCE Influenced by the nearby Olmecs, Maya begin using a Calendar Round made up of three corresponding cycles. First, there is the Long Count, which identifies the year; then there’s the divine calendar of Tzolkin and the civil calendar of Haab, which identify days. Monuments have Long Count dates on them.
