TEMPLE OF KUKULCAN

-

The Temple of Kukulcan is the most iconic building at Chichen Itza. It is a four-sided pyramid with a staircase on each side leading to the temple located at the top, dedicated to the deity Kukulcan. Inside the pyramid there is a second, smaller, temple thought to have been built by the Maya during the Classical period. The Temple is often referred to as ‘El Castillo’, the name that was used by the Spanish Conquistadors.
