TOOLS OF THE TRADE

Unfortunately, the writing instruments used by the Maya have not survived. However, judging by depictions of scribes in Maya art, it is believed that they may have used brush pens (using fibres or even rabbit hair) quills or possibly reeds. It’s likely that they had more than one type of instrument to write with.
