-

SHAITAN

A class of unbelieving jinn, Shaitan are either male or female, evil in nature and hideous. In the Quran they are the most frequently mentioned supernatural entity. They function as devils, and belong to the forces commanded by Iblis. They are excellent tempters of men and in folklore use disease as a weapon, existing in a place between light and darkness. They are also known for eating excrement.

GHOUL

Belonging to the diabolical class of jinn, these creatures exist in the graveyards and abandoned places of the world, such as deserts, and lure travellers to their doom. They are the children of

Iblis and it is often stated that they had the ability to shapeshift. When the word entered Western folklore it became more strongly associated with a creature or individual who feeds on the flesh of the dead.

IFRIT

In the Quran, the term Ifrit refers to a rebellious type of jinn that lives in cities deep underground. These jinn are interesting due to living in societies similar to humans, with kings, queens and hierarchical structure. This group can also marry humans and even have children with their human partners. These are winged creatures of smoke and can be either male or female.
