A POSH PICNIC

During the late 1800s it was possible for the very wealthy to book entire carriages for themselves. Known as Picnic Saloons, they offered rich tourist groups scenic day trips in the lap of luxury. This photograph shows the party of James Caird, who were touring Scotland.
