FRITZ LANG’S METROPOLIS PREMIERES

The futuristic silent film Metropolis premiered in Berlin, Germany. The film, directed by Fritz Lang, went way over budget – costing around five million Reichsmark­s – and took 15 months to shoot. Although it was criticised upon its release it’s now widely regarded as the first great science-fiction film and one of the most influentia­l films ever made.
