FILLING SHELLS

Workers were tasked with filling ammunition and gas shells, with some munitionettes suffering from gas poisoning. To avoid sparks that could ignite the explosive chemicals they were handling, the women were also subjected to strict uniform regulations, such as the prohibition of wearing metal, on clothing or in the form of jewellery.
