Although its popularity increased during the American Civil War, the regular version of this firearm wasn’t favoured by soldiers. Its weight was counterproductive to the endless marching, especially with heavy military gear, army-issued long rifles and ammunition. But as an accurate short-distance pistol, it did have a place among cavalrymen.
