A THRONE FIT FOR A PHARAOH

This throne is noted for its particularly ornate backrest, which depicts the young pharaoh being rubbed with perfume by his wife, Ankhesenamen. As their names are in their earlier forms, it is possible that the throne dates from before Tutankhamun reinstated the worship of traditional gods following Akhenaten’s religious reforms.
