BRIDGE OF NO RETURN

-

Famed as the site of tense prisoner exchanges between North and South Korea, this bridge crosses the MDL and takes its name from the ultimatum given to prisoners before they crossed over. They could either remain in the country in which they were held prisoner, or return to their homeland. Following the 1976 axe incident, in which two US soldiers were killed by North Korean troops, the bridge was no longer used.
