DR JOHN ALCINDOR

Originally from Trinidad, Dr John Alcindor obtained his medical degree from Edinburgh University in 1899. When

WWI began he applied to join the Royal Army Medical Corps but was rejected due to his ‘colonial origin’. Instead he joined the Red Cross and was awarded a Red Cross Medal for his life-saving work.
