THE FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE MEDAL

Introduced by the International Committee of the Red Cross in 1912, the Florence Nightingale Medal is still awarded to nurses and nursing aides who have been deemed to provide exceptional support and care. Nightingale was one of Dunant’s inspirations and she herself joined the British branch of the organisation when it was formed in 1870.
