BENJAMIN HORNIGOLD

An English privateer at first, like many he turned to piracy after the War of the Spanish Succession ended. He was one of the most successful captains of the time, leading the establishment of the pirate haven at Nassau, and was a mentor to Edward
‘Blackbeard’ Teach.
He accepted a royal pardon in 1718 and became a pirate hunter until his death in 1719.
