CHARLES VANE
c.1680 – 1721
Vane learned his trade under Jennings and was part of the crew that stole the Spanish treasure in 1715. He got his own ship to captain by 1717 and, unlike many of the other senior pirates in Nassau, he did not accept the offer of a pardon in
1718. He was known to be a particularly cruel leader, showing little respect for his men or those he fought.
He was captured and hanged in 1720.
