THE POSSIBILITY

-

1912-30 THE QUEEN OF THE OCEAN

If Titanic had survived her maiden voyage she would have dominated the transatlantic passenger trade. What she would not have been able to avoid was World War I, and she would’ve been a prime target for German U-boats. After WWI she would have continued to transport passengers from all walks of life to and fro across the Atlantic for many years to come, with the comfort and reliability that the White Star

Line prided itself upon.

1912-30 TAKE OFF DELAYED

The first flight by the Wright brothers preceded Titanic by only nine years, and yet by her maiden voyage aircraft innovation had changed dramatically. However distance, size and cost were to keep commercial passengercarrying aircraft very much a dream until at least two decades after Titanic sank. Had she survived, she would’ve definitely played a part in meeting the needs of mass transportation around the world, a scale of demand that could not have been met by even the most ambitious airline.

1912 – PRESENT AMERICAN HEART AND MUSCLE

There were a number of high-ranking, highflying and influential American industrialists and businessmen who died in the disaster. Had they survived, they would surely have continued to influence and drive the economy and infrastructure of the United States in its evolution as a world-leading economic power. The richest on board was John Jacob Astor, but the list of those lost includes railway executives, a mining magnate, a steel magnate and Isidor and Ida Straus – owners of Macy’s department stores. But most passengers were ordinary people and we can only guess at how, had they lived, they may have in their own way changed the world.
