The Scat­tered Disc Although it over­laps with the Kuiper Belt at its clos­est ap­proach to the Sun, the Scat­tered Disc reaches out twice as far at its fur­thest point, to around 100AU. Only one of the five dwarf plan­ets, Eris, is found here, and has 27 per cent more mass than Pluto. Most short-pe­riod comets orig­i­nate from here.
