Fires persist on the coast of Australia

South and eastern Australia are still experiencing violent bushfires that have been growing in size since October 2019, in the process covering half the globe in smoke. On 4 December 2019, the NOAA-NASA Suomi NPP satellite used its Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite to observe how this natural disaster was affecting the coast of New South Wales.
