Constellation: Libra

Magnitude: 1.6

Looking like an orange star among the fainter stars of Libra, at the start of the month Mars rises around four hours before the Sun. It will remain an easy naked-eye object throughout the month, creeping closer to our star. A waning crescent Moon passes Mars in the morning sky between 20 and 21 January.
