Mars is just another bright star in the morning sky, albeit a distinctly orange-hued one. If you have a pair of binoculars train them on Mars on the evening of 17 February and you’ll be able to see Mars passing between two of the most famous deep-sky objects, the Trifid Nebula and the Lagoon Nebula.
