Solar and lunar Space Station transits
Spotting the International Space Station (ISS) is now a very popular part of amateur astronomy – and many of you reading this would be thrilled at the sight of the ISS sailing silently across the sky, shining like a bright star. On very rare occasions the ISS’ path across the sky takes it between us and the Moon or the Sun, and for a couple of seconds it can be seen silhouetted against it. To catch one of these transits you have to be in exactly the right place at exactly the right time, as predicted by phone apps or websites.
