2 The Cygnus Star Cloud

Running down the right-hand side of Cygnus, the Cygnus Star Cloud is a mass of faint stars very obvious to the naked eye under a dark sky. When we look towards it we are looking down the length of our own spiral arm within the Milky Way, where it begins to curve in towards the galaxy’s centre. A pair of binoculars will show countless thousands of faint stars within it.
