Equinoxes in 2022

On the day of the equinox, the Sun shines directly down onto the planet’s equator. The Earth’s axis isn’t tilted towards or away from the Sun at this point in the year. As a result, day and night are of almost equal length in almost all time zones. This happens twice a year and marks the beginning of spring or the beginning of autumn depending on which hemisphere an observer is in.
