The Vernal Equinox

20 March

-

The first of this year’s equinoxes, the vernal equinox falls on 20 March. The March equinox marks the point at which the Sun crosses an imaginary line in the sky over Earth, called the celestial equator, from south to north. For the Northern Hemisphere, the March equinox is the spring equinox and is considered by astronomers to mark the beginning of spring. For Southern Hemisphere residents, this marks the beginning of Autumn.
