Ancient star
HIP 13044, which rests
around 2,000 light years away from Earth, is an old and metalpoor star – stars that have a low amount of
elements other than hydrogen and helium. It weighs in at 0.8 times
the mass of the Sun with an age estimated
at around 9 billion years old – at most.
