Stirling Rambling Club: Friday, April 19, Kelvinhead to Falkirk Wheel on the Forth & Clyde Canal. Grade: C. 6.5 miles. Meet: Leaving 9.45am from Park & Ride car park beside Boardwalk Restaurant (FK1 4AD). We walk to bus stop to catch 35 bus at 10.03. Directions: At roundabout turn into Millennium Wheel Drive towards Boardwalk Restaurant, P&R is on right, opposite restaurant. Michele Bell. Sunday, April 21, Aberfoyle, Lochan Spling and Round Fairy Knowe. Grade: C. Distance: 5 miles or 8 miles. Meet/time: To leave 10.30am at Aberfoyle main car park, as you drive in, park nearest to Tourist Informatio­n Centre. Descriptio­n: We head westwards on wide forest paths to a stunning small loch with some attractive artworks. Returning to town area, we’ll follow trails round Doon Hill, where it’s said fairies are resident. We will then head over the River Forth for the old rail line to return to car park. Falkirk Solo Club: The Club is a friendship club for both single males and females over the age of 55. We meet on a Friday night in The North Broomage Social Club, Graham Avenue, Larbert, FK5 4PF. Stirling Trade Fair: Fair Trade Stirling is celebratin­g its 20th Anniversar­y in 2024 with a series of events. These start with a poster competitio­n for young people in Stirling. The aim of the competitio­n is for young people to produce posters which celebrate and promote awareness of Fair Trade. The competitio­n is for young people in school years S1, S2 and S3. Posters may use artwork, poetry, prose or any other creative form provided that it represents original work from the entrant. The closing date for entries is Tuesday, April 30. There will be an award ceremony in May.

Winners will be awarded a hamper of fair trade produce. All entrants who attend the award ceremony will receive a prize of fair trade chocolate. Jon Cape, Fair Trade Stirling co-ordinator, said: “This year, we are proud to celebrate our 20th anniversar­y. Over the past two decades, awareness of fair trade and the range of fair trade goods available locally has grown tremendous­ly. We have seen schools raising understand­ing of trade issues and the role of fair trade. There is a lot more still to do and we look forward to young people playing a part.” Any young person or groups of young people in school years S1, S2 and S3 living or studying in Stirling may apply individual­ly or through their school or youth organisati­on.
