Prison sentence for Sauchie serial fraudster who stole credit card
A FORMER Sauchie man with a “long and sorry” record of offending has been jailed for more crimes of dishonesty.
Malcolm Hunter, 43, formerly of Beechwood and latterly of no fixed abode, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court by video-link from prison to be sentenced for a catalogue of offences.
On April 15, at Savers, Mill Road, Alloa, he stole two bottles of perfume.
Then, on December 15, at News Plus, Shillinghill, Alloa, he obtained goods worth £45.04 by fraud using a card he pretended belonged to him.
Two days later, on December 17, at Newmills, Tullibody, he stole a credit card.
And on the same day, at Usave, Tullibody, he obtained goods worth £47.14 fraudulently by using the card.
Then at Scotmid, Tullibody, he committed the same offence obtaining goods worth £61.20.
He also had to be sentenced for a long list of similar offences committed in 2022 using cards which were not his and fraudulently obtaining goods. Sentence had previously been deferred for Hunter to go into rehab.
Sheriff Neil Bowie described
Hunter’s criminal record as “a fairly long and sorry tale.”
Defence solicitor Charlotte Watt said: “Illicit substance misuse is at the root of his offending.”
Sheriff Bowie jailed Hunter for a total of 300 days.
