Summer rose care
Keep roses healthy and pest-free
1 Support flower heads so they are less likely to be damaged or snapped off during summer storms.
2 Watch out for black spot, a fungal problem. Remove and destroy affected leaves, including those that have fallen.
3 Keep on top of aphids. Squish small clusters with your fingers to reduce the need for chemicals if the colony gets bigger.
4 Pull suckers (which originate from the plant’s rootstock) from the ground. Never cut the suckers as this encourages them to come back stronger.
