Reader’s Quick Tip

Amateur Gardening - - Your Letters -

AS the whole plastic issue is very much theme of the day, here is a topical tip. With the strawberries ripening and the birds being all too keen on them, here is a use for those plastic clam shell type packaging boxes that cakes and pastries from the supermarket come in.

As a nice bunch of strawberries come to ripeness, pop them in said packaging while still attached to the plant. They ripen whilst being protected from the rain and the hungry birds. Steve Wade, Shropshire
