Cuttings in a container
1 Cut this year’s healthy growth in 6-12in (15-30cm) lengths with a sloping top (so rainwater can run off) and a flat bottom.
2 Dip the flat end of each length in a rooting compound and then insert it into a pot of dampened cuttings compost mixed with sharp sand or perlite.
3 Place the cuttings in a cold frame or sheltered spot and don’t let them dry out. The cuttings will root and grow, and can be potted on next autumn.
