SALES of Mr Fothergill’s ‘Victoria Cross’ poppy seeds have so far raised £73,000 for the Royal Chelsea Hospital. They are available from garden centres and online.

Mr Fothergill’s commercial director Tim Jeffries said: “We are proud to be supporting the Royal Hospital Chelsea and pleased to see so many gardeners joining with us to do that.

“Our close links with the RHC will see us supporting their important work for many years to come.”

The Royal Chelsea Hospital, which is home to the red-coated ‘Chelsea Pensioner’ war veterans, was established in 1682 by Charles II for former soldiers ‘broken by age or war’.
