Unusu­ally well-branched, this de­cid­u­ous shrub has multi-sea­son ap­peal, with red­backed, scented white flow­ers open­ing from scar­let buds in April and May, fol­lowed by red berries that ma­ture to black. The or­ange-red au­tumn fo­liage grad­u­ally turns wine-red. H: 10ft (3m).
