Petunias for winter, anyone?

-

HARDY petunias seem to have been developed as I have seen them advertised. I love petunias in all shapes and sizes, but I get great delight in having divided seasons, taking the bedding plants out at the end of summer, enabling room for winter and spring planting, and so the cycle goes on.

So I ask myself, why would we want hardy bedding plants unless we have huge areas of flower beds where they can be left, still enabling us more seasonal planting? But in small gardens I can’t see them being a viable hit.
