Solid water-butt advice

Amateur Gardening - - Your Letters - C. England, Bromley, Kent

MAY I add a note to the article about water butts, (AG, 10 November)? Butts should be installed on solid foundations, with overflow pipes down into a suitable drain or far away from the butt or building foundations. Soil that is kept constantly wet causes the butt or building to subside.

The overflow pipes must drain efficiently
