3 newcomers to sow now

Amateur Gardening - - Pick Of The Very Best -

echinacea ‘Green twister’

This robust and vigorous echinacea was a star in my garden last year, when it flowered into October. The very large purple flowers have startling bright-green tips to their paddle-shaped petals. Sow one to three seeds per cell.

radish ‘escala’

Ideal to sow in the greenhouse now, either in the border soil or in deep trays, ‘Escala’ is an Award of Garden Meritwinning crisp red radish with a great flavour. It’s unusually resistant to disease and rarely cracks.

Heliopsis ‘Burning Hearts’

Another successful perennial for me last year. Rich purple foliage is topped by yellow daisies, each with an orange ring around the eye. It has a very long flowering season, and will self-sow. Sow one to three seeds in each cell.
