roselily Carolina

One of the pollen-free Roselily series, which won’t stain your clothes and carpet when used as a cut flower. Carolina’s double blooms are white with subtle pink tips to the petals. Flowers: late Jul-Aug. H: 32in (81cm).

‘Nymph’

An Oriental that fits the bill if you’re after a tall variety. Perfect for a spot at the back of the border, where it will attract attention thanks to the scented yellow flowers, the petals of which feature pink stripes. Flowers: Jul-Aug. H: 61⁄2ft (2m).

L. speciosum var. rubrum ‘uchida’

The delicate-looking flowers of this species lily really stand out, with their pink-on-deeper-pink speckled appearance. Easy to grow, and certain to come back year after year. Flowers: Aug-Sept. H: 4ft (1.2m).

‘Queen of the Night’

If you want to dial up the drama, try this almost-black Asiatic, with its contrasting red stamens and lime-green foliage. Said to be one of the darkest lilies you can get, it has a subtle fragrance. Flowers: mid Jun-Jul. H: 3ft (90cm).
