Picks for pergolas
THOUGHT you might like to see part of my garden border. I am pleased with the colours but I have decided to move the ‘Etoile Violette’ clematis climbing the pergola as it is getting too big. Any ideas what to replace it with? I don’t want a rose.

Wendy says: There are a few nice options amongst the less vigorous climbers, such as: Trachelospermum jasminoides Rosea (H 3m); Abutilon ‘Kentish Belle’ (H 2½m); or the late large-flowered clematis ‘Hagley Hybrid’ (H 6-8m).
