First aid for damaged lawns

-

THE trick to lawn repair is to make sure you do everything twice; this ensures hollows aren’t missed and seed is spread evenly. Fill hollows with fresh topsoil, firm underfoot and rake level, working up and down the lawn. Check heights and repeat, but this time work across the lawn to catch lumps and dips you may have missed. Measure out the seed according to the instructions on the box (usually a handful covers a square metre) and scatter half while walking up and down the lawn, and then the other half working across it. Finally, lightly rake in.
