Buy the right size trellis and mark the wall, using a spirit level to make sure angles and lines are straight. 4

Fix the trellis to the batons. You may need someone to hold it in place while you fasten it. 2

Ensure drill bits are sharp and the right diameter for the job. Fill holes with Rawlplugs before adding screws. 5

I attached the trellis so the climber has space between it and the batons to grow and scramble up. 3

Fix the supporting batons, making sure they are perpendicu­lar or horizontal where appropriat­e. 6

Once all the screws are in, dab their holes and any cut ends with preservati­ve to prevent rotting.
