Potting on

-

Divide cuttings into their own pots

After a year, cuttings should have shown signs of life, have produced leaves and grown in size.

This means they have developed roots and are ready to be potted on and grown individually.

Water the cuttings so they slip easily from their pot, then carefully separate them so you don’t damage the roots.

Pot up each one in compost

(I use John Innes No2, multi-purpose or a mix of the two) and firm it in.

Water well, making sure the compost is thoroughly dampened and place the cuttings in a coldframe for the winter.

Keep them watered and plant them out next spring when they have matured.
