AYour mystery plant is commonly called spiderwort (Tradescantia virginiana), a native of eastern USA woods and meadows. It has great appeal, and your variety could be called ‘Blue Stone’.
If it is not growing where you wish it to, lift it when leaves die back in late autumn and move it to a warm sunny border. Happiest in free-draining fertile soil, it flowers for several weeks.
