Best year ever for readers’ sunflowers

HERE is my 4ft (1.2m) sunflower that is a gift from a bird. It’s in a tiny crack in the crazy paving, I hate to think how far its roots are travelling. I’ve sown many sunflowers in good soil over the years, but the slugs always have a feast off them. Perhaps this is the answer?
