Best year ever for read­ers’ sun­flow­ers

HERE is my 4ft (1.2m) sun­flower that is a gift from a bird. It’s in a tiny crack in the crazy paving, I hate to think how far its roots are trav­el­ling. I’ve sown many sun­flow­ers in good soil over the years, but the slugs al­ways have a feast off them. Per­haps this is the an­swer?
