Alpine treasures to try
OPTING for a variety of foliage and flowers, I’ve planted South African Sebaea thomasii from the gentian tribe, with yellow flowers that open from spring to summer. Iris suaveolens from Albania and Turkey is a tiny bearded type with yellow and purple flowers. For summer, cute Dianthus strictus subsp. pulchellus and larger Scutellaria ‘Texas Rose’ bear pink blooms, and those of Globularia incanescens are blue.
