Canon re­veals world’s largest CMOS sen­sor

At nearly 40 times the size of a 35mm full-frame CMOS sen­sor, it is safe to say that Canon’s gi­ant sen­sor won’t be com­ing to any con­sumer-level cam­eras in the near fu­ture. In­stead, the 20cm-square de­vice has al­ready been used in the 105cm Sch­midt cam­era at the Kiso Ob­ser­va­tory in Tokyo to record me­te­ors.
